Biographie

There are those in our provincial sporting fraternity who deserve recognition as builders of facilities or programs, organizations or clubs and leagues. The late Ev Doucet of Bathurst, a charter-member of that city’s Sport Hall of Fame, is one of those. But, in the memories of those who knew him best, he was another kind of builder as well, - a builder of character, of sportsmanship, of values, and of a sense of community.Hockey was his greatest sporting love; his high school, juvenile, junior, intermediate and senior teams were perennial champions locally and provincially. It has been suggested that: “… his interventions as a true sportsman need to be reiterated as a model for out youth”, a motion which all of us could and do enthusiastically second. Enrolled in the New Brunswick Sports Hall of Fame, June 7th, 1986.
